And the line between government and the private sector grows more and more fuzzy and indistinct...according to a WaPo article, Blackwater's owner, the Prince Group, now has its own private spy agency, (which goes by the Orwellian sounding name Total Intelligence Solutions)staffed by former US CIA and defense operatives.
What worries me about this is the threat this could pose to US security--what's to stop these guys from selling their expertise to the highest bidder? They already admit that they do business with foreign governments as well as the US government and corporate interests--who's to say exactly who they would work for--perhaps a government or group that secretly sponsors terrorism? Their chairperson happens to be Cofer Black--the former CIA head of counterterrorism who was in charge of secret renditions of Al Quada suspects and the detention of some of them overseas--making one wonder what sort of tactics these fellows might employ in order to come up with the information their clients seek.
Every day, we come just a little closer to being a full-blown fascist state.
