Borrowers in foreclosure are getting ripped off left and right by unscrupulous lenders who try to charge them outrageous--and often illegal---fees when they file for bankruptcy.
Under George Bush and the Republican party, the pendulum has swung way too far in favor of business.
In the Bible, these kinds of practices were called usury. Republicans--who seeem to largely favor the credit industry, given their passage of the new bankruptcy laws, and their unwillingness to curtail predatory lending practices--sure seem hypocritical in light of the fact that they seem to think they are the party of morality and "Christian values."
Now, the US economy is going to hell in a handbasket, while the devils responsible for much of this mess--the loan sharks who conned people into accepting subprime mortgages in the first place--are laughing all the way to the bank--while Americans lose their homes and investors lose billions of dollars.
